Our Chloride Suppliers

We have partnered with a range of chemical manufacturers who specialize exclusively in synthesizing chlorides and their derivatives. With years of industry experience, our suppliers offer the most common chloride compounds, or can custom manufacture chloride compounds that you cannot purchase from most chemical suppliers.

With all orders, you can order the exact amount of chemical that you need - with no minimum order - in a cost and time effective manner that other suppliers cannot match.

Chloride Physical Properties & Structure

Chloride compounds can be considered as organic or inorganic compounds. Organic compounds are where a chemical contains at least one covalently bonded chlorine atom, whereas inorganic chlorides are chemicals connected to metal compounds, such as salts.

However, based on the overall chemical structure, it is possible for chloride chemicals to also be considered by other chemical names, such as aromatic heterocycles, alcohols, or derivatives of these chemical compounds.

In most cases, where chlorine is present as the most electronegative atom in a compound, then they are referred to as chlorides.

Chloride Derivatives

Because chlorides refer to chemicals containing one or more chlorine atoms, there is technically no such thing as a chloride derivative. However, some simple chlorine-containing compounds could be considered chloride derivatives, such as sodium chloride or hydrochloric acid.

Chloride ions can undergo oxidation, but not reduction reactions. Chloride can be oxidized into oxides or oxyanions, such as hypochlorites, chlorates and perchlorates.

The Reactivity of Chlorides

Chlorine is an extremely reactive element and readily forms a range of chloride compounds.

Chlorides can be considered as weak bases, meaning they are easily protonated in the presence of strong acids.

Applications of Chlorides & Derivatives

Chlorides compounds are widely used in different industrial applications. They are commonly found in chemicals used as pesticides and herbicides, but also widely in materials such as teflon, plastics and other industrial materials.

Organic chlorides - predominantly those that are man-made - are used widely in the oil and gas industry, in paints, solvents and industrial cleaners.
